Factions

While the politics of The Northern Empire hold strong compared to much of the Wasteland, but even here the cities and factions fight to survive and often call upon the aid of mercenaries and heroes in difficult times. As with all those cast into the wasteland, trust is not easily given, and your reputation with these cities and organizations is vital if you’re to survive in the frozen empire.

Reputation

Reputation represents your relationship with the cities and organizations in the empire. Players earn reputation with groups in a number of different ways, such as donating religious artifacts to their respective church, completing quests for organizations, protecting members of a city, hunting down the enemies of an organization and bringing back proof of the deed, and, at low enough reputation levels, just having positive interactions with members of an organization or city can earn you reputation with them. Negative interactions or actions either hostile to a group or antagonistic to their goals will similarly result in a loss of reputation.

Reputation is tracked much like Karma and grants bonuses (or penalties) with the respective city or organization depending on your reputation with them:

Reputation Level Reward
100 Major Faction Reward. Special quests may become available, NPCs within the group who could benefit from your aid will often seek you out, the organization will often request your aid with priority situations.
75 Moderate Faction Reward. Special quests may become available, NPCs within the group who could benefit from your aid will often seek you out, the organization may begin requesting your aid with priority situations.
50 +1 Faction Disposition. Members of this group are happy to barter with you and will often take your words and actions in a better light. Special quests may become available, NPCs within the group who could benefit from your aid will begin to seek you out.
25 Minor Faction Reward. Special quests may become available.
0 Neutral.
-25 -1 Faction Disposition. Members of this group may refuse to barter with you and are likely to take your words and actions in the worst light.
-50 Faction Unfriendly. Members of this group will refuse to barter with you and will be hesitant to interact at all.
-75 Faction Hostile. Members of the group will often attempt to detain or kill you and they may have placed a bounty upon your head. Organizations opposed to this group may seek you out.
-100 Faction Hated. Members of the group are actively attempting to detain or kill you and they likely have placed a sizable bounty upon your head. Organizations opposed to this group will likely seek you out.

Notably, many cities and factions offer one or more types of rewards for gaining reputation with them. These rewards often represent the level of trust or show of merit they require from an individual before offering unique training or services for purchase or rewards. These rewards are noted below:

The Steel Rangers / Imperial Guard / The Enclave / The Imperial Skyguard

Reputation Reward Level Effect Meaning
Major Reward Power Armor Training As the effect suggests, the faction will train you in using Power Armor, and offer you a place of membership among them (You do not have to join them to gain the Power Armor Training)
Moderate Reward Call upon aid If there are members of the faction nearby and you are in trouble, they will assist you to the best of their ability.
Minor Reward Safe Place to Rest Your Head You are welcome to spend the night and eat food (when they have extra food to offer) with members of the faction.

Stable 42

Reputation Reward Level Effect Meaning
Major Reward Honorary Stable Member You are treated as if you are a member of Stable 42! This includes being gifted with a pipbuck and training on how to properly use it (gaining Pipbuck Training for free)
Moderate Reward Network Connection Stable 42 has spent the last 200 years working on cybernetics... you can now reap the benefits (for a small fee). Of course, you must take the cybernetic perks, should they apply.
Minor Reward Safe Place to Rest Your Head You are welcome to spend the night and eat food (when they have extra food to offer) with members of the faction.

Crystal Crossing

Reputation Reward Level Effect
Major Reward Key to the City You are treated as one of the fine, upstanding citizens of Crystal Crossing. This may result in extra quests, special items that aren’t normally for sale, and other such unusual benefits.
Moderate Reward 10% Sales Increase Your sales figures are going up!
Minor Reward 5% Purchase Reduction The merchants are willing to sneak you a deal.

West Village

Reputation Reward Level Effect
Major Reward Spirits Guard You The leaders of West Village respect you, treating you as they would a hero. Should you bring them the appropriate gems, they will enchant your gear with Expert Level Shamanistic effects.
Moderate Reward Spirits Assist You Your aid has not gone unnoticed. Should you bring the appropriate gems, they will enchant your gear with Advanced Level Shamanistic effects.
Minor Reward Spirits Know You You have done a good deed or two. Should you bring the appropriate gems, they will enchant your gear with Novice Level Shamanistic effects.

Shadows of the Heart Ganny Ganny
